The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District #297 was called to order at 7:08 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2019 in the Media Center.

Motion by Christian Myrah, seconded by Rhan Flatin and carried unanimously to approve the agenda as presented and revised.

Motion by Kelly Rohland, seconded by Jennifer Stender and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the Regular School Board Meeting held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. 

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Christian Myrah and carried unanimously to approve the Treasurer’s Report for April as follows:

PERSONNEL

Member Stephanie Jaster introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:

RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE TERMINATION AND NONRENEWAL OF THE TEACHING CONTRACT OF 

KAITLIN BRATLAND, A PROBATIONARY TEACHER.

WHEREAS, Kaitlin Bratland is a probationary teacher in Independent School District No.297.

BE IT RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School District No.297, that pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 122A.40, Subdivision 5, that the teaching contract of Kaitlin Bratland, a probationary teacher in Independent School District No.297, is hereby terminated at the close of the current 2018-19 school year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that written notice be sent to said teacher regarding termination and non-renewal of her contract as provided by law.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Kelly Rohland and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Jaster, Myrah, Solum, Rohland, Flatin and Stender; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Christian Myrah and carried unanimously to approve the resignation of Tom Pecinovsky, Maintenance, effective April 26, 2019.

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Jennifer Stender and carried unanimously to approve the contract for Alyson Meyer, Special Education Paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year.

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Rhan Flatin and carried unanimously to approve the resignation of Brianna Johnson, 5th Grade Teacher, effective at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. 

PROGRAM

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Christian Myrah and carried unanimously to approve the 2019-2020 School Calendar as presented.

Motion by Rhan Flatin, seconded by Stephanie Jaster and carried unanimously to approve one snow day as an instructional day, as provided by statute, for the 2018-2019 school year.

BUILDING/GROUNDS/EQUIPMENT

Motion by Christian Myrah, seconded by Jennifer Stender and carried unanimously to approve the quote from Mr. Carpet for carpet replacement in the Media Center in the amount of $14,404.51.

Motion by Stephanie Jaster, seconded by Rhan Flatin and carried unanimously to approve the quote from Badger Corrugating for custom office cabinets, including installation, in the amount of $8,711.94.

The Spring Grove Town Board will meet at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Spring Grove Town Hall for its regular monthly meeting.

Spring Grove Township is seeking bids from qualified private contractors for maintenance of approximately 32 miles of township roads. 

Bid forms can be obtained from the township clerk by calling 507-450-4638.

Bids will be reviewed at the June 5 monthly board meeting and be accepted until 8:05 p.m.

The township reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids or further negotiate with a contractor.

Work will begin on or about July 1, 2019.
