M-C trap team finishes third, looks ahead to state

The Mabel-Canton trap team finished in third place in the Class 2A, Conference 4 standings after the five-week regular season wrapped up last week. The Cougars held on to that third-place spot through the entire season, also having the third best team score each week.

The Week 5 score of 1,583 points brought the M-C season total to 7,903 points. They finished behind conference winner Paynesville (10,939) and second-place Minnewaska Area (8,653) but well ahead of four other teams including fourth-place Milaca (6,272).

Colton Heintz-Kuderer led the Cougars last week with a 48 (out of a possible 50). Tracer Tollefsrud scored 45 points. Jack Arneson and Dawson Wangen each hit 44 targets.

Brady Yoder hit 43 birds. Emma Middendorf added a 42 while Dawson Kleiboer, Colton Tollefsrud and Austin Snell each scored a 41.

Tanner Marquardt and Emma Tollefsrud each brought down 40 targets. Maddy Michels hit 38 and Alex Arneson added a 37.

Conference Individuals

Heintz-Kuderer finished fourth on the Boys Class 2A, Conference 4 Top 25 List with his season average of 23.90. Jack Arneson finished 14th on the list (22.70). Snell tied for 18th (22.40). Tracer Tollefsrud was No. 24 with an average score of 21.80.

Heintz-Kuderer finished the regular season tied for No. 59 on the Overall Top 100 List for Minnesota (regardless of class and conference).

Middendorf finished second on the conference Girls Top 25 List with an average score of 21.70. Michels was tied at No. 5 on the list (19.90). Saijal Slafter finished at No. 10 (18.40). Emma Tollefsrud was 14th on the list and Gwen Tollefsrud was 18th.

Schedule

Up next is the Clay Target League State Championship June 10 to 18 in Alexandria. Winners can then qualify for the Minnesota State High School League championship on June 22 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
