Mabel-Canton shooters challenge league leader

The Mabel-Canton trap team is in second place among seven teams in the Class 2A, Conference 5 standings with 8,451 points, just 56.5 points behind first-place Brandon-Evansville. The Cougars put up their second-highest point total of the season in Week 4, finishing with 2,248 points. This is the final week of the regular season, with postseason tournaments right around the corner.

This week, Austin Snell was the top Cougar, finishing with a score of 49 and including a perfect score of 25 in round 2.

Blake Henry was next with 47 targets while Colton Heintz-Kuderer, Robert Michels and Dawson Wangen each knocked down 46 birds.

Joe Colsch and Dawson Kleiboer each hit 45 targets. Bailey Bushman and Levi Rogich each dropped 44 birds. Dylan Loppnow, Emma Middendorf and Logan Richardson each hit 43 and Brenden Kerns 41. Brady Yoder and Tracer Tollefsrud hit 40 birds each.

They were followed closely by Victoria Wangen 39, Nathan Magnuson 37, James Arneson 36, Maddy Michels 36, Riley Snell 36, Colton Tollefsrud 35 and Jack Arneson 34

Conference/state shooters

Emma Middendorf is still the top shooter on the conference Top 25 girls list with an average of 22.75. She is tied for 14th among all girls in Minnesota, regardless of class.

Wangen (15.88), Michels (15.75) and Ella Bjertness (11.75) are also on the conference Top 25 list.

The Cougar boys have two of the top five spots on the boys Top 25 with Henry (23.38) and Heintz-Kuderer (23.38) tied for fourth place. Richardson (21.75), Wangen (21.50) and Loppnow (21.38) are also among the Top 25 boys.
