Mary Jean Kikuts, 79, mother of Lanesboro woman

Mary Jean Kikuts, 79, died on June 22, 2019, at her home in Austin.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1939, in Austin to Roy and Bernice Shane. She was one of three siblings. She attended Queen of Angels grade school and Austin High School. She had nine children.

She was very active with her church, Lighthouse of Hope. She worked many service jobs. She loved people and worked most of her senior years as a part-time employee or a volunteer in nursing homes. She also worked in the Philamathian Book Store and most recently at Scared Heart Nursing Home in Austin.

She suffered from emphysema and stage-four lung cancer that quickly took her life.

She is survived by her husband, Roman of Austin; a brother, Gary (Deborah) of Hartwell, Ga.; eight children, Deborah (Jerry) Fogal, Lanesboro; David, Litchfield; Theresa (Robert), Lake Norden, S.D.; Christine (Dennis), Milaca, Minn.; Colleen (Patrick), Litchfield, Minn.; Judy (Tim), Lake Norden, S.D.; Terry, Superior, Wis.; and Jessie (Paula), Clarks Grove, Minn. She has 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sharon (Clayton), Albert Lea; and her son, Timothy.

Memorial services will be held at Lighthouse of Hope Church, 2909 W. Oakland Ave., Austin, on Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. All memorials are to be sent to the church.
