Melody Ballay, 74, of Grand Meadow

Melody Ann Ballay, 74, of Grand Meadow, died at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, at Mayo Clinic - Saint Marys Campus in Rochester.

Melody, a true southern belle and Saints fan, was born July 16, 1945, in Port Sulphur, La., to Hewitt John Ballay Sr. and Grace May (Hingle) Ballay. Melody was a woman full of color and joy. She was blessed to be able to travel the world. Her true passion though, was family. Melody especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Melody was loved by all that knew her. She had a great sense of humor, and was quick to make whomever laugh. Family time and gatherings brought Melody the most joy in her life. Melody’s smile and laughter will be greatly missed.

Melody is survived by her spouse, Kim Portz of Grand Meadow; children, Toki Martin and daughter-in-law, Tammy Martin of Slidell, La., John Roy Martin of Fort Wayne, Ind., Manette Black of Stewartville and Aaron Martin of Grand Meadow; grandchildren, Savanna, Austin, Zander, Morgan, Seth, Theresa, Ashley, David Jr., and Caleb, and two great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Julia.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, at United Church of Grand Meadow with the Rev. Jon Marburger officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. following the service for a time of fellowship at Strikers Corner in Stewartville.
