Morris L. Dempewolf, 90, of Spring Valley, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at the Gundersen Harmony Care Center.

He was born on March 30, 1928, in Cresco, Iowa, to Roy L. and Jennie E. Dempewolf.

He attended Albion Country School and Cresco High School.

He worked on the family farm and in 1950, he joined the Navy, where he served until 1954. He returned home and continued to farm.

On Sept. 9, 1961, he married Judith Cornwell of Adams.

In 1964, they moved to Harmony and farmed until 2001. The couple moved to Spring Valley in 2001.

He enjoyed farming, raising hogs, anything that was John Deere, spending time with his family and visiting friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; three daughters, Colleen Dempewolf of Erie, Colo., Renee (Jim) Reicks of Harmony and Tonya (Doyle) Benson of Stewart, Minn.; one son, Jason (Amanda) Dempewolf of Harmony; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Bergeland of Lafayette, Colo., David Chuzzles (Jennifer) of Monticello, Sarah (Braden) Hahn of Preston, Andrew Reicks of Harmony, Phillip, Josiah, Julia and Lydia of Stewart and Coltan, Maggie and Lilianna Dempewolf of Harmony and two great-grandchildren, Ruby and Brooks Bergeland of Lafayette, Colo.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

A memorial service for him was held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs, Iowa, with the Rev. Paula Hemann officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

He donated his body to the Mayo Clinic Department of Anatomy.
