A new in-home day care and preschool option will have little ones growing and learning in a home-hearted environment.

Home Hearted Preschool/Daycare will open soon at the home of Lisa Bornholdt and with the teachings of longtime day care provider Betty Johnson.

Currently, Nisse Treehouse in Spring Grove employs both Bornholdt and Johnson. They enjoy their time at the center with all ages of young learners. But there was something missing.

“We were both missing the in-home environment and the one-on-one interaction,” Bornholdt said. “We are excited to work together to open up a preschool child care program.”

The two women are currently working on licensing the business and it will soon be open when the paperwork is processed and granted. Once ready to go, they’ll be able to teach 12 toddler aged kids and up.

An open house will be held on Thursday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at 115 1st Ave. SE, Spring Grove, which is where the preschool and day care will be located.

Home Hearted Preschool/Daycare will be able to have 12 children in its care.

Johnson is an experienced day  care provider with more than 30 years of children in her care. She’s also a Minnesota-licensed teacher and has spent time teaching at Spring Grove Public Schools.

Bornholdt is in the process of earning her Child Development Associate (CDA) degree. She has also spent time in the school system.

Both will teach preschool and essential skills for toddlers. They will offer a theme-based curriculum.

“Our goal is to offer a cozy, stable environment where we can teach and prepare them for school,” Johnson said.
