New season of Chatfield’s Chosen Bean Concerts kicks off with Flagship Romance

Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson make up the harmonic alternative folk duo, Flagship Romance. The two will be performing at the Chatfield Center for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The fall season of the Chosen Bean Concert Series begins this weekend at Chatfield Center for the Arts. Known for live acoustic music by established and emerging artists, the Chosen Bean Concert Series is presented in southeast Minnesota’s premier listening room. The season starts with Flagship Romance on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Flagship Romance is a harmonic alternative folk duo from Truth or Consequences, N.M. Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson live, work and annually travel tens-of-thousands-of-miles together. They are deeply in love with each other and with the process of bringing their emotionally powerful music to people.

Their music combines “fluent, intense acoustic guitar playing; lyrics of life’s peaks, troughs, mysteries and wonders; soaring vocals; tender melodies; and harmonies one could barely separate with a single human hair.”

Living each song as if it will be the last they will ever perform, their commitment to their music and stagecraft has, in just a few short years, seen Flagship Romance become huge favorites of the North American listening room concert circuit.

Chosen Bean Concerts are presented in the American Legion Room at Chatfield Center for the Arts (CCA). With a capacity of only 100, patrons sit within a few feet of the performers or at tables arranged coffee house style. Chosen Bean Concerts nurture an intimate concert atmosphere offering audiences an immersive and engaging experience with the performers.

In the words of the series curator, CCA Board Member Joanne Martin, “With the Chosen Bean Concert Series, the goal is not only presenting voices of nationally known artists that everyone knows and loves to hear, but elevating lesser known voices from emerging artists who should be heard. The quality of the music and the musicians in the Chosen Bean lineup will tickle your ears, challenge your mind, make you laugh (and perhaps shed a few tears), all with the hope of offering insights to a better world through music.”

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Socializing prior to the show is encouraged and concert goers can enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks sold by CCA. Complimentary coffee is provided by Chatfield’s Cabin Coffee Company. Concerts start at 7:30 and include two sets of music with an intermission between.

Additional Chosen Bean Concerts this year include Rupert Wates on Oct. 12, Reggie Harris on Nov. 9, and Wyatt Easterling on Dec. 7. Tickets are $20 per concert, or series subscriptions for all four concerts are available for $70. Tickets and subscriptions are available at the door, online at www.chatfieldarts.org or by calling 507-884-7676.
