Kelsey Gwidt’s waking her dream.
“My dream was to become a teacher – I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in second grade, and I’ve always wanted to work with young children,” noted Chatfield Elementary School’s new second grade instructor.
She shared, “I graduated from high school in 2012, and I graduated from college in 2018. I attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. This will be my first year teaching.”
Gwidt said she decided to come to Chatfield because she had heard so many wonderful things about the community and its members. “I came from a small town and wanted to continue being a part of one,” she added.
Gwidt feels the most important thing a student should learn in school is to aspire each day to be a better person than they were the day before.
“I feel that children should learn how to be a good person and better themselves by developing lifelong skills,” she said. “And this school year, I hope to be able to take the children somewhere out of the area on a field trip and expose them to something out of the ordinary.”
Her family here is comprised of her fiancé and her dog. “I have no children, but I do have a fiancé that works with agriculture in the surrounding area,” Gwidt noted.
In her spare time, Gwidt said she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, fishing, spending time in the outdoors and playing with her puppy.
