Phyllis Potter, 88, sister of Lanesboro woman

Phyllis I. Potter, 88, of St. Charles, died on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital — Saint Marys Campus, Rochester.

She was born on June 3, 1930, in Peterson to Oscar and Minda (Benson) Holtegaard.

On July 9, 1950, she married Jim Potter.

They made their home in St. Charles. For many years, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, before staying home to raise their daughter, Julie. She later worked for Mayo Clinic in housekeeping. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles.

She had a passion for golf and bowling, at which she excelled. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, macrame and planting her flowers. The Minnesota Twins were her number one team, watching every game she could on television. She enjoyed pampering and spoiling her miniature schnauzer, Stella.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Steve) Herrick; her grandsons, T.J. (Megan) Herrick and Cody (Hannah) Herrick; a great-grandson, Tucker Herrick and a sister, Myrtle Hatlevig of Lanesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2011; six brothers, Odin, Art, Leonard, Connie, Raymond and Irvin and sisters, Benora Smith and Alette Hatlevig.

Services to remember her were held on Wednesday, May 8, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Rev. Waldemar Gies of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
