Freshman Chris Pieper won high jump while seniors Jack Beardmore was first and Nick McCabe second in the 100-meter dash as the Caledonia/Spring Grove track and field athletes competed at the La Crescent-Hokah "It keeps You Runnin'" Meet on Friday, May 3.

Thirteen boys and 10 girls represented C/SG in the five-team event that included La Crosse Logan, Stewartville, Cotter and host La Crescent-Hokah.  There were no team scores tabulated.

Boys

Both Beardmore's 100M time (11.33 seconds) and Pieper's high jump (6-feet, 1-inch) rank among the top 20 achievements in those events in this meet (since 1999).

Pieper had a personal-best in both that winning high jump and a third place long jump (17-feet, 6.5 inches). He also placed second in triple jump (35-9.5). He ran his first 100M dash and came across 13th out of 26 sprinters

In addition to that runner-up finish in the 100M dash, McCabe had a personal record while placing second again among 22 throwers in shot put (46-feet, 2.25 inches).

Sophomore Brody Johnson ran seventh among 25 at 200 meters and 10th among 26 at 100 meters.

Girls

The Warrior girls took three of the top seven places in a field of 24 in the 200-meter dash. With the girls' highest individual finish, eighth grader Kloe Jore was third (29.92 seconds) with senior Jenna Scanlan sixth and freshman Alysha Heaney seventh.

Scanlan was fifth and Arianna Tostenson sixth in the long jump while eighth grader Alex Tostenson ran fifth and sophomore Stevie Bulman sixth at 400 meters. Sophomore Eliza Welscher was fourth among 35 sprinters in the 100-meter dash.

Running fourth in the 4x100-meter relay were Welscher, Heaney, Jore and eighth grader Alexis Schroeder.

The 10 C/SG girls combined to compete in eight of 17 events.

Next is the Three Rivers Conference Meet at Paul Giel Field in Winona at 9 a.m.
