R-P/H track teams rack up post-season awards

The Rushford-Peterson/Houston boys and girls track teams garnered their share of attention even after their schedules were complete. Sixteen R-P/H athletes were named to the Three Rivers Conference (TRC) All-Conference teams, two Trojans received All-State honors, and five were named to the Academic All-State team.

All-Three Rivers Conference awards

Three R-P/H boys received All Three Rivers Conference awards. They were, Alex Van Gundy, (long jump, high jump), Triton Meldahl (110 high hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump), and Brady Gile (long jump, triple jump, 100 and 200 meters).

Four R-P/H boys were named to the Honorable Mention All TRC team. They were, Ricky Buchanan (800-meters, 4 X 800 relay), Luke O’Hare (800- and 1600-meters), Ben Weiser (shot put, discus), and Tyler Rislov (300 hurdles, 100- and 200-meters).

Six R-P/H girls received All Three Rivers Conference awards. They were, Kaitlyn Bieberdorf, (4 X 100 relay, triple jump), Kjersta Hinz (high jump, 4 X 100, 4 X 200 relays), Jenny Albrecht (long jump, shot put, 4 X 200 relay), Kaleah Davis (shot put, discus), Emma Geiwitz (long jump, 400 meters, 4 X 200 relay), and Allison Papenfuss (4 X 100, 4 X 200 relay, 200-meters).

Three girls were named to the Honorable Mention All TRC team. They were, Alayna Helgemoe (triple jump, 4 X 200 relay, 400-meters), Alyvia Eide (4 X 100 relay), and Brielle Rasmussen (300 hurdles, 100- and 200-meters).

All-State Awards 

The two R-P/H boys who qualified for the MSHSL State Track & Field Meet were both named to the 1A All-State Track and Field team; Luke O’Hare in the 1600-meters (4:32.19) and Triton Meldahl in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.20).

Five members of the R-P/H team were named to the MSHSL Academic All-State Team; Luke O’Hare, Ricky Buchanan, Kjersta Hinz, Kaitlyn Bieberdorf, and Allison Papenfuss.  To qualify for the Academic All-State team, athletes had to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
