Robert Neshiem

Robert “Bobby” Stanley Neshiem, 74, of Mazeppa, died on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester.

He was born on June 15, 1943, in Lanesboro to Ernest and Hazel (Olson) Neshiem.

He graduated from Mabel High School in 1961 and attended Austin area Vo-Tech and received a certificate in auto mechanics.

On May 23, 1964, he married Delores Sabanish at Garness Church in Mabel.

He began his career at IBM in 1965 working as a tool maker. They moved their family of five to Mazeppa in 1972 and bought a farm, as a family of six in 1973. He started farming and it was truly his passion. He retired after 30 years at IBM in 1994, and continued to farm until his health no longer allowed him to. He also served on the Mazeppa Township Board for 27 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed taking old car trips with groups of friends and going on cruises to see the world. He loved family birthday parties, spending time with his kids and grandkids on the farm, taking them sliding in the corn, snowmobiling and going to tractor pulls.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delores; four children, DeAnn (David) Steensland, Doreen Neshiem, John (Theresa) Neshiem and Jason (Kari) Neshiem; six grandchildren, Kammie, Melissa, Lane, Abby, Braydon and Temi; four great-grandchildren, Rylan, Dawson, Teagan and Raeya; sister, Marlene McCabe and brother, Wayne Neshiem.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service for him was held on Thursday, June 14, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with the Rev. Alan Horn officiating. Burial followed in the Mazeppa Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were made with Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
