The Kingsland cross-country teams had one meet on the schedule last week, a road trip to St. Charles on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The boys’ team finished 10th out of 11 teams. The Kingsland girls didn’t have enough runners to qualify for the team competition, which was won by Stewartville. Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson took the top two individual spots on the way to winning the boys’ team title.

The Kingsland boys’ team has been battling injuries this season. Head coach Erin Milz said they were “sort of” healthier for this meet than they were last week.

“Wesley Lin and Nick Eickhoff were able to run this week,” she said. “Wesley Dean and Nolan Kurth are still out. The good news this week was Garrison Hubka, Lily Freet, and Wesley Lin all had personal records even though the course was muddy and difficult to run on.”

Boys’ results

Hubka was the first Kingsland runner to complete the 5,000M course, taking 31st (out of 122 runners) in 19 minutes, 47.6 seconds (PR). Josh Meskill was the next runner in, finishing in 20:47.5. Nick Eickhoff wasn’t far behind, finishing the race at 21:09.8 (PR). Sophomores Isaac Hauser (21:54.9) and Noah Broadwater (22:13.8) rounded out the team scoring. Nathan O’Connell (23:52.4) and Treyton Pokorney (25:58.1) also competed in the race.

Luke O’Hare of LARP was the individual medalist in 17 minutes, 23.9 seconds.

Girls’ results

Susie Mettler had another solid race for Kingsland, taking 19th place (123 runners) in 22 minutes, 59.4 seconds. Lily Freet set a PR with her time of 30.00.1. Meredith Farlinger also ran in the race, finishing the 5,000M course in 32:21.5.

Kailee Malone of Stewartville was the medalist in 20 minutes, 44 seconds.

JV boys’ results

Wesley Lin took part in the 5,000M JV race, setting a PR in 29 minutes, 54.5 seconds.

Junior high boys’ results

Eighth-graders Jayden Brink and Beck Warren ran in the 3,200M race. Brink finished 11th out of 44 runners in 14 minutes, 44.2 seconds. Warren wasn’t far behind, taking 13th in 14:31.9.

Schedule

The Knights pull double duty this week, with two meets on the schedule. The first one is Tuesday, Oct. 1, on the road at Chatfield. Two days later, the teams head in different directions. The boys’ squad will head to the Lewiston Golf Course for a meet hosted by Lewiston-Altura-Rushford-Peterson. The girls head to the Ferndale Golf Course for a meet also hosted by LARP.
