With sectional tournaments fast approaching, the Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson (LARP) wrestling team finished up their regular season with a pair of dual meets last week. The Screamin’ Eagles visited the La Crescent-Hokah Lancers Thursday, Feb. 7, then hosted the Dover-Eyota Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 9.

LARP vs. La Crescent-Hokah (L-H)

Riding wins in six contested matches, the Screamin’ Eagles added a tally in their victory column. LARP also benefitted from forfeits in four weight classes to triumph over the Section 1AA Lancers 44-15.

Ross Herber got things started for LARP at 120 pounds, scoring a 9-0 major decision over the Lancers’ Joey Schreier. Kolton Riser followed right up, picking up a great win by scoring a fall at 0:37 of his 138-pound bout with Derek Carter.

The Lancers rebounded when Ty Mallicoat prevailed in an 8-3 decision over LARP’s Tristyn Hegland at 145 pounds. But Dominic Jenkins responded with a 13-2 major decision over L-H’s Dylan Worrell at 152, and Jacob Meyer took it to the Lancers’ Dylan Schultz with a 9-7 decision at 170. Noah Herber made it three LARP wins in a row when he notched a 5-3 decision over Colton Jorgenson at 182 pounds.

LARP vs. Dover-Eyota

The parent’s night match vs. the Section 1A and Three Rivers Conference (TRC) foe Dover-Eyota Eagles was a tough one. LARP wrestlers battled hard, but the Eagles held an 8-5 edge in contested matches and got a bonus in the form of one forfeited match to triumph 44-25.

The Eagles’ Brodie Kellen kicked things off for D-E, scoring a fall at 1:55 of his 106-pound match with Tyler Kreidermacher. Jacob Dessner made it a pair when he notched a fall at 1:55 of the 113-pound bout with LARP’s Jordan Zibrowski.  Ross Herber retaliated, scoring a 13-1 major decision over Treyton Thesing at 120 pounds. D-E’s Gavin Gust then grabbed a narrow 3-2 decision over Carter Jonsgaard at 126, and teammate Taylor DeFrang triumphed over Gable Speltz with a 7-3 decision in their 132-pound match.

Teigen Miller kept the momentum for D-E when he grabbed a 7-3 decision over Kolton Riser at 138, but Dominic Jenkins got LARP back into the win column when he scored a fall at 4:43 of his 145-pound contest with Spencer Honsey. D-E’s Blake Lehnertz responded with a fall at 1:19 of his 152-pound match vs. LARP’s Tristyn Hegland, and teammate Marcus Otomo took a 16-1 victory over Jackson Koverman at 160 pounds.

The Screamin’ Eagles’ Jacob Meyer responded with an 11-4 decision over Tyler Shea in their 170-pound match, and Noah Herber kept things going when he scored a fall at 1:05 of his 182-pound match with D-E’s Carson Mitchell.

The teams split the last two contested matches; Carter Weideman notched a fall at 1:07 of his 220-pound bout with Spencer Welsh, and Jackson Duellman answered with his own fall at 2:43 of the heavyweight matchup with LARP’s Alex Perez.
