Sharon Pederson, 72, formerly of Preston

Sharon K. Pederson, age 72, originally of Preston and most recently a resident of Cape Coral, Fla., and Cottage Grove, Minn., died January 18, 2020, after battling cancer for 16 months.

Sharon worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester from 1965 to 1970. After moving to the Twin Cities in 1970, she started working at Sperry Corporation, which later became Unisys, until she retired in 1991. She met her husband, Ron, through mutual friends in 1970 and they were married in 1972. After retiring from Unisys, Sharon started a second career as a real estate broker when she founded and ran Pederson Realty, until her final retirement in 2005. In 2006, Sharon and Ron built a waterfront home on the canals of Cape Coral, where they spent their winters on the beautiful waters of southwest Florida. Club Ped South, as it became to be known, was open to all friends and family who visited the area. Sharon treasured the visits from her grandchildren, friends and family. She always had food and libations ready to make everyone feel at home. Soon after retiring and moving to Cape Coral, Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer. She battled and beat breast cancer at that time, only to be stricken again in 2018.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ron; children, Chad (Carolee) of Woodbury, Minn., and Drew (Kimberlee) of Arlington, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Blake, Alexis, Reagan and Jett.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald, and mother, Margaret.
