Softball team remains perfect before snow returns

The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland softball team hosted on its home field last week, winning two games before winter returned.

The Bulldogs started the week with a 12-5 non-conference win over Southland. The next day, GMLOK threw a shutout at Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons by a score of 3-0. That’s when winter weather moved in. The game with Schaeffer Academy scheduled for last Friday, April 12, was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on May 7. A road matchup at Wabasha-Kellogg on Saturday was canceled.

The GMLOK girls’ softball team is off to a 3-0 start (2-0 Southeast Conference).

Big win vs. Southland

Lily Hughes worked all seven innings in the pitchers’ circle for GMLOK, coming up with 13 strikeouts in the game.

Zoe Scrabeck drove in two runs to help lead the offensive attack, also drawing a walk. Masie Voigt also drove in two runs. Catcher Liz Jacobson led the squad with two hits in the game.

No other stats were available.

Shutout on the road

Lily Hughes once again threw a complete game in the pitchers’ circle, going seven innings to win her second-straight start while totaling up another 15 strikeouts.

Hughes also contributed two hits at the plat. Voigt and Riley Groom each drew two walks. Left fielder Alexys Harwood and Sydney Eickhoff each had an RBI for GMLOK.

No other stats were available.

Schedule

GMLOK was already scheduled to be back in action on Monday, April 15, with a game at Fillmore Central. The softball team will be on the road at Plainview-Elgin-Millville this Thursday, April 18.
