The Chatfield softball team got two Three Rivers Conference wins last week over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro (12-0, five innings) and Caledonia/Spring Grove (17-2, four innings).

This week is an extremely busy one for the gals.  On Monday they were scheduled to travel to St. Charles, Tuesday they are at Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Thursday they host Dover-Eyota and on Friday they have a re-match with the Saints, at home.  On Saturday the team is beefing up its schedule with two games against AAA schools: at North St. Paul at 10 a.m. and at Coon Rapids at 2 p.m.

In the win over the Lady Falcons (FC/L), Lexi Chase pitched a perfect game, striking out 14 of the 15 batters she faced.  A perfect game means no walks, no hits, no runs and no errors by the defense.

Offensively the gals came up with a dozen hits, three each for Peyton Berg and Carlie Berge and two each for Chase, Alanna Goetzinger and McKenna Daniels.  All three of Berge’s hits were doubles, Goetzinger also had a two-bagger, Chase had a triple and Daniels had a home run.  Berge led the team with five runs-batted-in, with three for Daniels, two for Berg and one for Goetzinger.  Teagan Allen walked three times and scored two runs, and Katie Ihrke walked and scored.  Others scoring runs were Chase (2), Goetzinger (2), Berg (3), Berge and Daniels.

Chatfield batters only struck out one time.

The Chatfield bats stayed hot for Friday’s game against Caledonia/Spring Grove, as the team collected 13 hits, scored 17 runs and had 15 runs-batted-in.  The team also had five walks and only struck out twice.

Berge was in the circle for the four-inning crushing.  She gave up three hits, two runs, both earned, walked one and struck out three.

At the plate, Chase was two for three, Allen went one for two, Belle Berg was two for four, Goetzinger was two for two, Berg two for four, Berge one for two, Daniels was one for two, Abby Nosbisch went one for three, and Kim Greiner was one for three.  All nine starters had at least one hit against Cal/SG.

RBI leaders were Bella Berg, Goetzinger and Peyton Berg, each with four and one each for Berge, Nosbisch and Greinter.  Scoring the runs were Chase (3), Allen (3), Bella Berg (3), Goetzinger (2), Peyton Berg, Berge (2) and one each for Daniels, Nosbisch and Greiner.

Chatfield leads the TRC West-division with a 6-1 record.  The Gophers are 7-2, overall, and 4-1 against Three Rivers Conference teams in the East division.
