Stephen Hansen, 63, of Fountain

Stephen Lee Hansen, 63, of rural Fountain, died on Friday, May 10, 2019, in a single car accident.

He was born on April 24, 1956, in Sherman, Texas, to James and Marlene (Hill) Hansen.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and was based at Mountain Home Air Force Base, in Idaho from 1974 to 1977.

He then went on to Wartburg College in Iowa, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

In 1983, he married Connie Lynch in Waverly, Iowa.

He was employed at IBM in Rochester and was currently working for People’s Food Co-op in Rochester. He enjoyed playing frisbee golf, tinkering with computers, gardening and get-togethers with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; four children, Scott and Jeff Hansen, both of Brookings, S.D., Jonn Hansen of New Ulm and Aimee Hansen of Kent, Ohio; his brother, Christopher Hansen of Shell Rock, Iowa and two sisters, Rebecca Hansen of Waverly, Iowa and Kathleen (Bob) Kline of Pueblo, Colo.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Marlene Hansen.

A memorial service for him will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at Calvary Baptist Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Mike Gittins officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow the services at 1 p.m. in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery — Preston.
