Strong start for sprinters, Lemke, Holty

The sprinters excelled as expected, but freshman Dalen Lemke became the first Caledonia/Spring Grove boy to win a long jump event in four years as the track and field season finally got underway last week with two meets. It began with an April 24 makeup quadrangular at La Crosse Logan, followed by an April 27 seven-school event at La Crescent. Neither meet was scored for team points.
