Lexi Thorson and Kenidi McCabe both repeated as All-Southeast Conference softball players while Hannah Snell received honorable mention. The All-SEC team includes some veteran softball players. McCabe and Snell are among eight repeat honorees on the 11-player 2019 All-SEC Team.

It’s no surprise that conference champion Randolph led the way with four selections (all repeats) while M-C, Kingsland and Lyle/Pacelli each placed two players on the First Team.

Thorson

The senior first baseman is a highly-decorated player, having been included among All-SEC honorees for a fifth season - a First Team All-SEC selection in both 2016 and 2019 while receiving honorable mention in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Thorson led M-C this season in runs scored (26) and put-outs (136), and for the second straight season, led the Cougars in runs batted in, this year sharing the honor with 20.

She also had the second-best batting average (.388) and on-base percentage (.440) while finishing tied for second with 10 extra-base hits. Thorson also tied for third with seven stolen bases.

McCabe

Still an underclassman, McCabe has now been All-SEC both as a freshman and a sophomore while anchoring the defense at shortstop. For the second-straight season, she led the Cougars in these three categories: batting average (.487), base hits (38), and assists (62).

She stepped up her game this year and also led M-C in on-base percentage (.544) and stolen bases (13) and shared the team lead in RBIs ( 20).

McCabe was second in runs scored (25) and tied for second with 10 extra-base hits.

Snell

As a senior third baseman, she was third in runs scored (23) and on-base percentage (.415) and tied for third in stolen bases (7). Snell had the fourth-most extra-base hits (8) and the fifth-best batting average (.312).

Academic All-Conference

Academic All-Conference honors go to letter winners who maintain at least a 3.4 (A-) grade point average for the academic quarter in which the sport is played. Thorson is Academic All-SEC for a sixth softball season while Snell is a five-time honoree.

McCabe and Payton Danielson are three-year scholar/athletes while Lauren Wyffels, Jordyn Newgard and Emily Carolan are Academic All-SEC for a second year. Freshman Molly Lee is the eighth Cougar to earn the recognition in 2019.
