Tony Schulte, 61, of Spring Grove

Tony E. Schulte, 61, of Spring Grove, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis.

Anthony Emmett Schulte was born August 24, 1956, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Cletus and Phyllis (Ryan) Schulte. 

He attended school in Spring Grove, country schools in Allamakee County and graduated from Waukon High School in 1974. 

On April 16, 1977, he married Deborah Ann Mettille at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Tony farmed, drove a truck for several area trucking companies, and was self-employed as a mechanic. 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Dorchester Catholic Church. Tony enjoyed restoring older cars, tractors and collecting guns. He and Deb enjoyed car cruises, tractor rides and cruises on the ocean. They also enjoyed traveling in their car throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Survivors include his wife, Deb, of Spring Grove; his children, Shelly (Jesse Peterson) Schulte of Spring Grove, Corey (Naomi) Schulte of Oronoco, Minn., and Erick Schulte of Rochester; five grandchildren, Dalton (Erin), Baihly, Keegan, Ethan and Elisabeth Schulte; a great-grandson, Cooper Garret Schulte; a brother, Ray Schulte; three sisters, Ann (Mike) Monnens, Peggy (Jim) Hennessy and Jane Schulte; four stepbrothers, Wayne, David, Dennis and Randy Tweeten; two stepsisters, Beverly Stortz and Darlene Dahl; two brothers-in-law, John (Lee) Mettille and Cletus (Debbie) Mettille; two sisters-in-law, Linda Mettille and Pat Moore; and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Marlys Tweeten Schulte; a brother, Mike C. Schulte; parents-in-law, LeRoy and Mary K. Mettille; and a brother-in-law, John Moore. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, at St. Mary’s Dorchester Catholic Church in Dorchester, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. 

Private family burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted the family.

Honorary casket bearers were Tony’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were Corey, Erick, Keegan, Dalton, Dave Schulte and Howard Seibert.
