The Spring Grove clay target (trap) shooters opened the 2019 fall season in a familiar position - atop the conference standings. In a nine-team race, the Lions lead second-place Medford by a fairly modest 50 and a half-point margin and third place Red Wing by 147 points.

Senior Marie Petersen led the way by hitting 48 of 50 targets. She is tied for first place among conference girls.

Right behind were Carson Gerard and Ashlyn Hammel, each at 47. Gerard is tied for second among league boys and Hammel third among conference girls.

Brandon Anderson blew 46 clay birds out of the sky while Jacine Johanningmeier connected 45 times. Marah Mathison was next with 44.

All 11 of the team's counting scores were 40 or above. Taylor Reinhardt, Christian Bjerke and Kyle Hagen each scored 42 with Tiffany Michels at 41 and Xander Lewis at 40.
