The Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson (LARP) golf teams kicked off a busy week with a second-place finish at the boys-only meet in Lake City on Tuesday, April 23. Both the boys and girls were back in action on Thursday at the Ferndale Golf Course for a dual with Wabasha-Kellogg. While W-K didn’t field complete varsity teams, the LARP boys shot a 180 and the girls a 219.

Boys Second in Lake City Tourney

The LARP boys made the long road trip up to Lake City last Tuesday for a six-team, 18-hole tournament. The boys shot a team score of 346, good for second place in the standings and just nine strokes behind the Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa score of 337. PI/Z-M also had the individual medalist as Jake Smith shot a 79 to lead all scorers.

Individual Standings

Zach Anderson led the LARP boys with a low score of 84, the fifth-lowest individual score in the tournament. Thanks to a tie-breaker, Jacob Anderson finished sixth in the individual standings with an 84, while Carter Lang shot the seventh-lowest score of 86. Jerry Hines wound up the team scoring with a 92. Mason Kelly and Andrew Hoiness each shot a 95 for the LARP boys.

“All of our golfers continue to play well,” said LARP coach Luke Rye, “and we’ll continue work hard and improve as the season progresses.”

Home Dual against W-K

The LARP golf teams finally opened their home schedule at the Ferndale Golf Course on Friday in a dual meet against Wabasha-Kellogg. Neither the W-K boys nor girls were able to field complete teams against LARP. The nine-hole tournament saw the LARP boys shoot a team score of 180 and the girls finished with a 219.

Boys Individual Results

LARP’s Jacob Anderson finished as the medalist with a low score of 41 over nine holes. Zach Anderson was next with a 45. Lang shot a 46 and Mason Kelly added a 48 to round out the team scoring. Andrew Hoiness (49) and Jeremiah Hines (50) also shot well for the LARP boys.

Joe Stumpf led W-K with a low score of 50.

Girls Individual Results

Lexi Reps shot a team-low score of 51 for the LARP girls, followed closely by Anna Hennessy at 52. Alexa Agin scored a 57 and Halle McElmury added a 59 to complete the team scoring. Haley Krull also competed and finished with a 78.

Schedule

Both LARP golf teams are in for a busy week that started on Monday, April 29, with a home meet against Caledonia. They’ll play on Thursday, May 2, at Wabasha-Kellogg at the Coffee Mill Golf Course. LARP golfers will end the week on Friday, May 3, at home against Fillmore Central.
