Wall of Honor ceremony Friday

State Rep. Greg Davids will be inducted into the Kingsland Wall of Honor Friday, Nov. 1, during a ceremony beginning at 7 p.m.

He will be the 12th person named to the Wall of Honor in the annual induction that began in 2008 to honor graduates from Spring Valley, Wykoff and Kingsland schools. All are welcome to attend the induction in the Kingsland cafeteria. Dessert and refreshments will be served after the ceremony at 7 p.m.

Community members have the opportunity to nominate an alumnus who, upon graduating, has attained a high level of achievement in one of the following areas: personal and/or professional life, community contributions, or demonstrated that education is a life-long experience.

The significance of the Wall of Honor is to show the foundation that public education has provided to the community and democracy, according to school officials, showing the support of public education and Kingsland Public Schools is an investment that continues to benefit the community. Wall of Honor inductees will serve as role models for Kingsland students and encourage them to pursue high levels of achievement in their personal and professional lives, as well as promote the ideals of contributing to the community and focusing on education as a life-long experience, they noted.

Past Wall of Honor recipients are John Osterud, Irene Warren, Terry Therneau, Henry Plummer, Donovan Frank, Mitch Lentz, Tom Healy, Karice Bezdicek Stern, Edwin Krueger, Wendell McKenzie and Sue Kolling.
