Warren Sylling, 73, formerly of Spring Grove

Warren Alan Sylling, age 73, died on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, in Mankato, Minn.

Warren was born on May 3, 1944, in Spring Grove to the late Leonard and Bernice (Meister) Sylling.  Growing up on the family farm he helped his family with crop production while raising cattle, hogs, and turkeys.  

Warren graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1962 having enjoyed numerous FFA activities and playing football. His entire family was very active in 4-H where he won numerous dairy trips including the National 4-H Club Congress in 1962.

Warren married Deanna LaHaise on August 16, 1969, and they had three children, Karla, Philip, and Paul.  

Warren worked as a salesman for the A.B. Dick Company in Rochester and later for the Johnson Company in Mankato.  

In 1982 he started his own business, Paper Plus, which thrived until just before his death.  His labor of love was to build friendships with his many customers over the past 35 years as he provided personalized service.

Warren had a big heart and a generous spirit.  He found pleasure chatting away evenings with neighbors and delighted in hosting parties for his many friends.  

For many years he enjoyed monthly visits to his home farm where in 2014 he helped host a family reunion.

Warren is survived by his children, Karla (José), Philip (Fei-Chien), and Paul (Angie), former spouse Deanna; his beloved grandchildren Adrian, Oliver, Jasper, and Owen; sister, Barbara (Fred) Arnold; and nieces, nephew, and many cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bernice, brother, Gordon, and sister-in-law, Helen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with visitation at 1 p.m.  

Warren’s ashes will be interred at Trinity Cemetery following the service, with lunch served afterward. Memorial donations may be sent to Mayo Hospice in Mankato, Minn.  Roble Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
