Wyffels is four-time All-SEC; Ingvalson also honored

Two Mabel-Canton baseball players were voted to the 2019 all-conference squad by Southeast Conference coaches. Senior Drew Wyffels is a member of the All-SEC Baseball Team for the fourth time and is also one of 20 players named to the All-Section 1A Team. Parker Ingvalson received Honorable Mention from conference coaches


The senior pitcher and center fielder made an impact for the Cougars from the first time he stepped out on the baseball field. He’s a five-year letter winner and is Academic All-Conference for the fifth year.

His teammates voted Wyffels as the Cougar Most Valuable Player for the third time. His impact at the plate has been big, He’s led M-C in base hits and runs scored for four years.

Wyffels has led the team in batting average and stolen bases for the last three seasons.

This year, he was again on top of the batting race, hitting a team-high .385 with 21 stolen bases. His team-high 15 base-hits included two doubles and a triple.

He was equally sharp on the mound. The right-hander struck out 51 batters and walked only 24.


The Cougar junior is a four-year letter winner. The left fielder was also the second most-used pitcher. At the plate, he led M-C in both extra-base hits (four doubles) and in runs batted in with seven. He swung a solid bat and finished second on the team in batting average (.298) and base hits (14). Ingvalson also scored three runs and swiped two bases.

Ingvalson was on the mound for 37 and one-third innings, striking out 23 and walking 19. 

Academic All-Conference

Sophomore Jack Arneson, freshmen Alex Arneson and Jaymeson Tollefsrud plus eighth-grader Jordan Larson all joined Wyffels as Academic All-Conference, letter winners with at least a 3.4 (A-) grade point average during the baseball season.
